Home theaters are all the rage these days and big displays and surround sound can transform your viewing experience. What is more, it is now feasible to turn your living room into a small movie theater.

While large LCD televisions offer a high quality viewing experience, there is nothing to compare with a real projector to bring movies and TV to life. Projectors, aka multimedia projectors or home theater projectors, have been around for decades. However, it is only more recently that video projectors have become affordable for the average consumer.

Also, projectors have become more lightweight and compact, and picture quality and brightness has improved a lot. High quality projectors can be bought for well below the $1,000 mark, although you can fork out a few thousand dollars for more expensive models.

Buying a projector can be sizable investment so you will want to know exactly what you want. There are two major kinds of projectors - Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Digital Light Processing (DLP).

Liquid Crystal Display projectors - These are the older of the 2 varieties, although they are still common and are the cheaper of the two. They boast excellent brightness and color, and are the preferred choice for the workplace.

DLP projectors - Digital Light Processing (DLP) projectors have become more popular with home users because they are more suited for movies and TV. They also tend to be more compact and lighter, though they also cost more.

When looking for a projector it is wise to have a firm grasp of the jargon and have an understanding of what features you require.

Resolution - The main reason for having a video projector is so you can enjoy a big, cinema-like display at home. That said, big displays need high resolutions. The very lowest resolution you should buy is 1280x720. If you require a genuine high-definition viewing experience, 1920x1080 is the way to go, but they are pricier.

Brightness - This is maybe the most essential feature on any video projector. That said, it is also important to get a video projector that is not too bright. A lot will depend on the brightness of your home.

Contrast - Any home video projector must provide quality contrast for cinematic quality. Also, a decent high-contrast gray screen will help.

Versatility - Your projector should be capable of connecting to a wide range of media, including TV receivers, DVD/BluRay players and PCs so you may enjoy the movies you want, when you want.

You may wonder what good are those movie download services to you. But to tell you the truth, you can pay very little money for a movie if you get in with a great movie download service. You will pay a subscription fee each month.

Have you always wondered why people love foreign movies with subtitles? With these movie download services you have a chance to see what all the fuss is about. Most times you pay a subscription and can even get unlimited movie downloads or movie rentals.

A great way to ensure that you don't buy any of those dud movies anymore too. Because now you can watch movies online, if you don't like them don't buy them. Spending upwards of $15 or more on a new DVD won't need to happen anymore.

It may cost a bit of money to get a DVD burner and legal software to make your own DVDS. But when you figure out the money you can save in the long run, it's a price worth paying.

Imagine the ability to come home from a long day at work, all you want to do is relax. But yet the family wants to spend time with you. Turn on the computer go to your movie download service and buy online movies.

Check out several of these movie download services before you pick one. See who offers you the most movie downloads and movie rentals for the best price. Maybe even finding a place that will offer you unlimited downloads and rentals.

Look for a movie download services choices and who offers you TV shows because it's a great way to watch those old programs. One's you haven't seen in years, or newer shows that cost way too much to buy on box set. But something you really want to see.

The most choices you get for movies to watch online or movie rentals is the best choice by far. Not only that but see how many genres and sub genres they offer you. Meaning don't just settle for horror, make sure they have B movies too. Some of these B movies are well worth watching, but not necessarily buying outright.

But now you have a choice you can simply wait until that movie is available to watch online. Download it and watch and enjoy it. Great for those family movies too that you're not sure you really want to buy.

Also keep in mind that you will be able to watch those new movies before you buy a DVD, that way you won't waste money on a movie you thought was good. Only to get it home and find out that you shouldn't have bought it.

This movie was something that we would have never bought in a store. Possibly never even rented even, but when we got it off the movie download service we saw it was great. Yes we have run into many movies we only watch a few minutes of. But the price that we pay for the movie download subscription is so inexpensive. It's like nothing to see two minutes of a movie and move on.

I love Terminator. I love Terminator 2. Terminator 3...well we can gloss over that and put it in a box with Aliens 3, Batman and Robin et al.

Terminator: Salvation could have been great. It could have been the apocalyptic visions of Sarah Connor come alive. But it wasn't. Visually all is well. The budget seems to have been spent on sweeping aerial camera shots and they are impressive. Cinematography has come a long way from James Cameron experimenting with steady cams but that doesn't mean you forego a decent storyline for action. The film is very dark and Christian Bale must have gotten some throat lozenges for that voice of his is better than in Batman but at times you strain to understand what he's saying. The exchange he has with control after the spectacular helicopter scene is just...well...odd. To be honest he shows little emotion other than slightly angry and this doesn't help when the film is resting on what should be the pivotal relationship between him and his father played by Anton Yelchin - who is rather good and perhaps the only saving grace.

The film lacks heart with an ensemble of characters that seem to be just there for the hell of it.

Why have Bryce Dallas Howard in the film? Her character is underused and any emotion that could have been portrayed between John and Kate is lost. Maybe she'll be better used in the next instalment. The character Star has been lifted directly from Aliens (Newt with less character and no back story) and again feels superfluous to the film's narrative.

For the most part I spent my time in the cinema recognising scenes from other films (Hunt for Red October, Aliens and Terminator amongst others) and grimacing at the terrible inclusion of catch phrases with "I'll be back", "Come with me if you want to live" being thrown about as if no-one will realise that this film is the fourth part of the Terminator series. It is cringe worthy. The terminators are poor, the T-800 seems to have forgotten that it has knowledge of human anatomy that makes it a killing machine and the 'bike' terminators can easily be ridden even though they have no steering or brake system.

My tips for the next film? Stronger story, stronger acting and most of all stronger terminators. I'd only recommend to those who didn't like the first two films.
