If you're considering getting a new Television service company then you may be wondering whether to go with cable or satellite.
We have to ask ourselves,"are we going to keep paying for traffic,or are we going to learn how to get it for free?" There are many systems that will show you how to get lots and lots of traffic, if you pay them of course. Don't go and invest in another course until you have read this article.

There are countless programs on the Internet that all claim to help us find the holy grail of traffic. Well, in a way they are right, we are helping them to buy their 'holy grail' but not our own. I must confess, I have helped some of these sites make a lot of money, my money that is. What is needed is more simplified approach. I found I was spending way more than I was making. I had to start doing things that actually worked.

You can actually start to build up your website traffic on an extremely small budget (if any at all). There are a few ways to get lots of free traffic, we just have to ask the right questions.

Take it from one who has spent the last few years searching for the perfect way to get website traffic. I have finally found (it was staring me in the face) that it is true that by writing and publishing your own articles, your traffic to your website will increase accordingly.

If you have never had any experience writing before, then just think of it as if you were talking to one of your friends and explaining it to them. What people like to read is your 'first-hand' experience. In fact it is better if your look at your writing in this way, it is much easier than you think, you just have to make a start. Your articles can be fairly short, from 250 to 500 words is all, that is just a few short paragraphs.

Make sure of course that you sign each article with your website URL. In real terms, there will be about ten percent of all your article readers that will click through to your website. A smaller percentage again will also buy what you are selling. This is an economical way to get website traffic.

Perfect Marriages With Russian Women

The World wide web made it possible for people of different cultures get acquainted with soul mates, strike up a friendship, establish a relationship and even find a life partner.

Now there are a large number of online dating sites where foreign men can get to know potential Russian brides. There are also online marriage agencies providing the corresponding services for a small fee, if any. Some of them are placed in Russia, primarily in Moscow and St. Petersburg, others are situated in other countries. A number of people give preference to online dating, as they can see if they are compatible straight from the very beginning by reading candidates' profiles or communicating via e-mail. When it is time for partners to meet offline, highly reliable marriage agencies organise everything a foreigner needs, such passport and visa issues, interpreters etc., for a successful date.

Some people abroad often want to know why Russian ladies search for boy-friends far from home. First, the present demographic situation in Russia is very urgent. Females greatly outnumber males, in particular women over thirty. Thus, 30-year-olds are very unlikely to get married in the mother country. Second, there is a high part of Russian men addicted to alcohol. Alcoholism does not only totally destroy men's health but also their families. Third, because of the constantly changing economic situation in the country most Russian women are employed, usually on a full-time basis, to supplement their husbands' income or very frequently to provide for their families as the only breadwinner. Still, after a tiring working day they have a number of duties to perform at home, such as raising children and keeping house. Infrequent are cases when Russian men can earn enough, so that their wives could stay at home.

Therefore, wretched Russian ladies leave the fatherland in search of steady, secure life abroad. Educated women knowing a foreign language, rather English, find it easier to strike up relationships with foreigners, as they overcome cultural and language barriers and adapt to a new way of life quicker. Their ability to make a career and perform domestic responsibilities simultaneously makes them perfect partners for western men.

However, some Russian ladies do not target at striking up a long-lasting relationship with foreigners, but at getting benefits from them, frequently financially. So, one should beware of Russian scammers. Fortunately for men, such cases are infrequent.

To sum up, the existence of dating websites and on-line marriage agencies help singles of different nationalities, educational background, financial status make perfect matches.

Affiliate Management and What It Can Do for You

An affiliate manager's role is to work with business affiliates in order to assist and encourage them in the generation of sales along with associated administrative tasks and other businesses activities.

The affiliate marketing model nowadays refers mostly to internet marketing. An affiliate business is a business that promotes the products and services of another business on their website, and in return receives a reward. This reward might be paid simply for directing a visitor to the businesses website. Alternatively, it might be necessary for the visitor to undertake some specific activity, for instance registering or making a purchase, before a reward is paid. Although affiliate marketing is simple in concept, in practice is can become quite complicated, and it is the role of the affiliate manager to deal efficiently with these complications.

Typical of the services offered by affiliate managers are the planning and implementation of new affiliate management programmes. This might include traditional marketing activities such as looking at the competition and assessing potential market share, developing the advertising copy and organising the launch of the programme. They will also source high quality affiliates and implement the necessary software and systems in order to run the programme.

Software is critical to the implementation of a successful affiliate programme, and there are numerous activities that it must control. Examples of these are generating affiliate links, managing cookies, calculating rewards and payments for single and multi-tier programmes, generating ads, producing reports for affiliates and administrators, generating alerts and emails, along with maintaining security and monitoring abuse, for instance click fraud.

Affiliate marketing is a constantly moving business and affiliate management can maintain up to date intelligence on market dynamics, customers, competitors and new opportunities.

The ethics of affiliate marketing are extremely important, and there have been countless examples of unethical activity carried out by affiliates that have inflicted considerable harm to the merchants for which they work. An example of such an activity is the sending out of spam emails. An important role of affiliate management is to monitor and prevent such behavior.

Paid Search Marketing: Keywords

In any paid search marketing campaign the most important factor is the correct choice of keywords. Getting these wrong can impact heavily on your campaign and the cost of failure can be significant in terms of both cash and lost opportunity. Often the keywords that people think are appropriate quite often are not. Although you might be extremely aware of the details of your products and services, you might not be aware of the terms used by people who are searching for you. Quite often there is a huge mismatch between the terms the business owner considers to be appropriate and those actually used during searches.

When first confronted with this problem the tendency is to throw ones arms up in despair, but fortunately there are a number of internet marketing tools that can assist you. One of the major providers of paid search marketing services is Google. This organisation has a number of excellent keyword tools that it makes available to both members and non-members alike. For instance, this tool allows you to input a description of the product or service you wish to promote, and it will generate a set of appropriate keywords ranked by relevance. It will also list what it calls the local search volume for the last month, which is the number of search queries matching the keyword result for the specific country and language, along with a global figure which includes all countries and languages. Alternatively, you are able to enter the URL of your business website and it will provide a list that is relevant to that. A particularly useful benefit of this tool is that it provides a detailed website competitor analysis.

There are a number of alternative proprietary keyword tools that provide additional data or present it in an alternative format. Some of these are available as free web based applications, and some as stand alone software that you need to purchase and download. Some of these will even allow you to explore the keywords used by your competitors, which can be extremely useful in developing a paid search marketing campaign.

Paid Search Marketing: Know Your Competitors

In any marketing campaign, knowing what your competitors are up to is extremely valuable. In fact getting to know the competition is something you should apply right from your initial business idea and certainly while developing your business model. Naturally at those early stages probably you would be more concerned with overall market shares and business strategies than the precise details of how they market their products and services, but now you are getting down to the nitty-gritty of your paid search marketing campaign, you need to know a little more about their precise tactics.

One thing that is very useful to know about your competitors is the keywords they are using and the keywords that are most successful in increasing the traffic to their website. This has the potential of giving you a huge competitive advantage. If you can identify the keywords that are actually working for the competition, then you can use them yourself. Thanks to the availability of a number of internet marketing tools, this is much simpler than initially it might seem.

These internet marketing tools will not only reveal the keywords your competitors are using in their paid search marketing campaigns, they will also show the search terms that have been used in organic searches and have resulted in traffic to their sites. Some of these tools, particularly the free ones, can be quite time consuming in terms of both run times and the amount of effort needed to analyse the results, however it is certainly worth persevering if initial difficulties are encountered. Alternatively, there are companies that will undertake this type of analysis on your behalf, and if time is short this is certainly worth considering.

Emulating the keyword strategies used by your competitors will increase your market share at their expense. Naturally, should you become a threat to them, they are equally able to find out what you are up to also, but hopefully by that time you will have found new ways of keeping yourself ahead.

Paid Search Marketing: Are all your eggs in one basket?

Paid search marketing (PSM) isn't the only game in town. However effective your paid search marketing campaign might be, you should not ignore the benefits of optimised organic search marketing, and this means search engine optimisation, SEO. In fact a well planned online marketing campaign will make the best of both resources rather than relying on one. A balanced campaign is always better than having all your eggs in any single basket.

In some ways the approaches to SEO and PSM are opposites. SEO starts from the bottom up. When designing a website, SEO should be considered from the outset, rather than just be something that is bolted on the final result. The keywords, the quality of the copy, the functionality and the structure of the website should all be designed with SEO in mind, and there are numerous publications and guidelines regarding how this can be achieved, also when addressing your website competitor analysis take time to compare and contrast the relevant information. Of course link building and offsite publications are very important to SEO, but again the design of good landing pages is crucial. Link quality relates to the quality of the landing page and this is important to search engine robots as well as human beings.

On the other hand, PSM can be a top down activity. Naturally the quality of the landing pages are similarly important in order to encourage your visitors to stick, but the critical items are keyword selection and ad quality. An advantage of PSM is that it can produce very rapid results. The activities of SEO can take some months to put a site onto the first page of search engine results, but with PSM a well planned campaign can put your ad up there on the first page within days if not hours.

One thing that should be born in mind when developing your parallel campaign is the fact that links displayed in organic search are clicked on more frequently than PSM ads. In fact that ratio is something like ten to one. The ideal situation is when your PSM ad appears at the same time as an organic search result. It seems that there is a symbiotic effect, and the total click through rate is higher that the sum of click through when they appear individually. Developing a good balance between these two internet marketing tools is crucial to maximising your sales.

Make Money With Your Website - 5 Easy Secrets

"Form follows function" is a dictum first postulated by the famous architect, Louis Sullivan. His advice is still valid today and can be used on your website(s) to improve the sales conversion rate. Many people have pretty websites that don't convince people to buy their product. This is because they haven't considered how to design the website to elicit the response they want. This report will outline 5 easy steps to correct that problem. It is part of an much longer free report that gives 25 easy steps that can make your website a superstar.

1 - Make use of different colors and text styles. Using only black text and one graphic font will bore your readers. They just won't get excited about with what you're telling them. If they're not excited, they're not buying. By combining bright vibrant colors with various text sizes and font styles you will massively affect your readers. It makes the page easier to read and you can highlight the important information and subtly point the readers eyes to the sales points and the buy now button. Remember most people don't read a web page, they scan it. So make their scanning more effective by making your sales points the most interesting part of the page. Color and style will help you do that.

2 - Give people a reason to buy - today. Everybody loves a "deal" and people on the internet are no different. You have to provide more value and one way to do that is add a "free bonus" or a "one time offer" or a discount that expires in 12 hours or something that sweetens the deal. Why does an appliance dealer advertise the "red tag special?" Because it works. Obviously using any, or all, of these offers won't result in a 100% sales conversion. Nothing will do that. But if you combine these ideas, you will get more buyers and make more money.

3 - People who don't trust you will never buy from you. Everybody is nervous about being scammed on the internet. You must gain their trust right away. There are many ways to do this. For example, have a "contact me" button that's easy to find and if someone contacts you get right back to them. Another method is the "happy customer testimonial." If you sell an acne cream and you have a quote from someone who used your product, such as "I tried Zits-Be-Gone and in just two weeks my acne was a bad memory" signed Trina Teenager you will be amazed at how this one change can improve your sales conversions.

4 - Always seem familiar. In other words, on your web page try to use words, colors and phrases that seem like other successful marketers. Look at other big sites and try to mimic them. If you look like Amazon in feel, color and usability, people who are familiar with Amazon will be more comfortable buying from you, even though you're obviously not Amazon. Also use logos that people recognize. For example, give them the option of paying through Paypal or Google Checkout. These things will add credibility to your page and your offer.

5 - Micro-test anything and everything. Micro-testing and split-testing allow you to see what's effective and what isn't. The concept of testing is crucial to your success. Fortunately, its not hard to do. Simply changing one word in your home page and sending half your potential customers to that page may result in a huge improvement in conversions. But you won't know unless you do the split test.

Article Directories Help Generate Traffic To Websites

If you own your personal site, you should know how to advertize it and generate traffic to it. One of the most efficient means is submission of articles to on-line article directories. You may either make use of article submission software or article marketing services. If you choose article marketing services, you have to pay a professional who will submit your pieces of creative writing to the appropriate article directory for you so that you can have a check on the results. When using specially developed submission software, all you need to do is to click on the submit button for the programme to start directing your articles straight to article directories over the world for free. As soon as your site has gained popularity and traffic towards it has increased, you will monitor the results. Yet, this is the second step to be taken. The first and the most crucial one is to write an article that will draw many readers. Thus, content truly means a lot.

In fact, writing articles is not simple as it may seem at first. You write about various things, some of which you are uniterested in at all or you do not know about. Every now and gain you lack inspiration. It is essential to make articles differ from each other in style, in language and so on to appeal to Internet users. If you have hired a team of writers, then you are lucky. But if you write articles on your own, here are some valuable recommendations for you to think of.

It is hard to say when to compose articles. Scarcely anyone can write at a fingers' snap. Usually it takes some time for you to select the appropriate word combinations to start up your composition. Pros use templates to simplify the process of writing. Having them at hand can be really convenient and spare time. You may also choose form filling tool instead of the template. In fact, this tool has much in common with the template. Yet, if you make use of the tool there is no need for you copy and paste passages to your piece of writing manually. As soon as the program starts running, it instantly makes changes in the required parts and saves you a good deal of time and effort. Note that for an article to pass the submission procedure, it should be concise, informative or educational, logically structured, coherent and easy to understand. Subheadings within the main body make an article sound dynamic and help comprehend what it covers.

Thus, a professionally written and arranaged article submitted to article directories will certainly generate more traffic to your site.

A Brief History of Search Engines

Search engines are a staple of daily life. Almost since the inception of the beast which we know today as the internet, there has been some sort of device to sift through it. This is especially true today, where dozens of providers battle for our custom to let them sort through millions of pages just so we can see yesterday's football results, but what about the history of search engines? They had to starts somewhere, so who was first, and how effective were these early incarnations?

Before the public use search engines that we know today existed there was only a list of all web servers - ‘a computer program that is responsible for accepting HTTP requests from clients (user agents such as web browsers), and serving them HTTP responses along with optional data contents, which are usually web pages such as HTML documents and images'. As the net gained popularity, the list could not keep up, and it soon fell into disrepair.

After this many small-time search engines were being created, the first pre-web one being ‘Archie', which was written by students in Montreal. Today very few servers still use this search tool, however a functioning Archie can still be found in Poland.

One of the first search engines to have the ability to search for any word in any webpage - which has since become the standard for all major search engine operators - was Webcrawler, which was released in 1994. Webcrawler was also one of the first search engines that was widely known by the public.

After another spew of smaller search engines were created, a few major companies started to stand out amongst the rest, such as Yahoo, Google and Microsoft's own MSN search. A timeline of some of these is listed below.

Timeline of Search Engine Launches

Ad Tracking - How to Take Full Advantage Of Analytics And Statistics

Now that you've got your site up, you're only loving that rush of traffic you've been getting so far. Your marketing plan looks very effective with your hits increasing consistently. Now you think you've hit it bull's eye with your fail-safe marketing strategies and consistent tracking software.

The question is, is all that traffic useful? Sadly, maybe not. That's because not all traffic will give you sales. The kind of traffic you need is the one that converts to a sale and to build up on this, you need to distinguish between good traffic and bad traffic using your statistics and a web traffic analyzer.

Telling good from bad traffic begins with visitor tracking or hit counters. An ad tracking software or service will bring you more information than this such as where your visitors are located, which web pages they frequent, the length of their visit and the forms and images they download. If you know how important analyzing your traffic is, you'll value all this information that will be made obtainable when you track your ads.

For example, knowing where your visitors are will give you an idea how to effectively customize your services. If you're getting very little traffic from your international or out-of-town clients, you might want to lower your shipment rates to make them more interested. In terms of Internet marketing, knowing from which search engine your visitors are will give you an idea how to adjust your strategies to perk up your ranking on the search engine where you're presently not that successful.

If you know which pages are viewed the least, you can improve their design or add more engaging content to make them perform better. If you home page rarely gets clicked, which means you barely get visitors to check out the rest of your site, then it's clearly not doing its job.

Consequently, good traffic is traffic that converts into a sale while bad traffic is that which does not bring anything that the site or company it stands for can take advantage from. It doesn't mean, on the other hand, that a visit that does not convert into a sale is automatically bad. One thing that may be considered is whether a visitor is there for the first time or for a certain number of times. If a first visit does not result in a sale and is not repeated, then it's almost certainly bad traffic. But if a visitor has been in and out of the site without necessarily purchasing anything, it could be that he is still considering his options. This traffic obviously has good potential for turning into a sale and could, therefore, be considered good.

Online Marketing Advantages

Online marketing offers many advantages to the supplier and consumer alike. Over recent decades we have experienced a huge growth of this activity and it is anticipated that this growth will continue into the foreseeable future.

Online marketing benefits the supplier by allowing low cost access to a huge number of customers and benefits the buyer by providing a means to fully research the market prior to making a purchase.

Although it is increasing in popularity a number of barriers to growth remain. Even in highly developed countries not everyone has access to reliable high bandwidth internet. There are also concerns over security and identity theft. Governments are reacting to these and similar concerns by encouraging the rollout of high speed internet connections and enforcing new laws on consumer rights and in turn online brand protection.

As online marketing grows so too do technologies and methodologies associated with it. The tools available to the online marketer are increasing in both number and sophistication. Pay per click advertising is an example of this. Originally introduced in a basic format at the start of the century it has developed into a highly sophisticated and easily accessible marketing tool. The effect of a pay per click advertising campaign can be monitored in more or less real time. The effects of using different keywords and phrases can be assessed both in cost and sales and can thus be optimised readily.

New tools are coming along that make pay per click advertising even easier to manage. Software is available that will track keywords of the advertiser and the competition, thus providing a means to fine tune the marketing campaign in order to stay ahead.

Online marketing still represents a tiny fraction of the total global expenditure on all forms of marketing, but it is becoming so efficacious that it is bound to grow into the available space. The only thing that seems to be batting against it is the evolving habits of the target audiences. Just as people become immune to virus infections, they are becoming immune to many forms of online marketing. The term banner blindness, which refers to website visitors' ability to ignore banner advertisements even at a subconscious level, is an example of this. However, pay per click, which targets actual search results remains effective.

The Conversion Marketing Concept

With the advent of the internet, conversion marketing is very quickly catching up as a concept among marketers to establish and promote their brands over the web sites. Conversion marketing means a form of communicating value to the prospective customer wherein the prospective customer takes the action which is intended by the marketer. When such action is completed it is referred to as "conversion". Hence companies aim at maximizing the conversion rate over the internet. This concept is closely linked to the pay per click concept as the clicking of an ad or a link is also a form of conversion that is sought by the marketer.

The conversion rate is calculated as a percentage of total visitors who actually complete the conversion action as desired. There can be various such actions that may lead to conversion such as downloading an application form, placing an online order, submitting an online query, making payments online, online reservations and bookings, money transfer transaction online, etc. so the conversion action is evaluated in terms of the goal that the marketer wants to achieve and is hence from the company perspective and not the consumer perspective. Similarly conversion is regarded to be successfully only when the marketer's criteria for it has been met. It depends from products to services and their various types. For instance an online travel agency will consider their conversion to be successful only when a customer makes an online trip reservation after he connects to the travel site on clicking a banner ad on a search engine.

For an online retailer probably a successful conversion may mean placing of an online order for goods after being linked to the product site from some other website For those businesses which are involved in content creation, conversion may refer to subscribing to a newsletter or registering for a quarterly membership and the likes. Hence the conversion criteria vary among different types of businesses and their business objectives. It is important to set the right conversion criteria for correctly analyzing the flow of online business.

Almost all of us use computers in daily life, whether that's out of necessity in the workplace, or out of the pursuit of pleasure in our spare time. With computers comes of course the internet, and with the internet comes the search engine. We all know that in the vast labyrinth of information that is the internet we need something to do the hard work of finding what we actually want, but how many of us know how these amazing sites work? Below is a short guide to the ins and outs of the nifty search engines we use every day, see if you're not amazed at how much information they sort through!

Through specific tools you can undergo keyword tracking with brand protection software. If you represent a brand, it is important that you rank highly in search because the search engine can become the source of significant revenue.

A search engine basically performs three different tasks to get to the mass of data that exists on the web, and the specific sites that you want to access. These three tasks are called Web Crawling, Indexing and Searching.

The search engine usually has information about millions of web pages stored, which is received from the site itself. It is the job of a web crawler to then follow every link that it comes across, and then make a copy of all the visited pages, keeping the pages up to date. Indexing is the next task, and is the process of analysing all the web pages to display relevant information by extracting text from titles for example, or Meta tags.

---Market Defender Provides the very best <a href"http://www.marketdefender.com/">online brand protection for your website---

When a search engine user such as you or I enters a search query, such as ‘holidays in Spain', the search engine scours its index of saved web pages and comes up with a list of sites which it deems relevant, according to pre-programmed criteria. Many search engines support the use of ‘Boolean Operators', which are the words AND, OR, and NOT. When included in a search term these words should change the web pages which are brought back, for example using NOT Italy to exclude holidays in Italy as opposed to Spain. Some site even the support the use of a proximity search, whereby users can search for terms which are a certain distance apart.

The Vastness Of Online Marketing

For some, the term "online marketing" is a vague one. This is because there are many different ways one could define online marketing since there are scores of methods one can market a product or service online. This opens the door for various different marketing strategies most of which have proven quite successful. What are some of the more popular methods of online marketing? Here are a few:

Article marketing was originally considered too laborious to be successful but now it has emerged as one of the primary means entrepreneurs promote their wares online. As the name implies, article marketing centers on promoting a product or service through short, well written articles that are published on the internet. These articles are a mode of information marketing where solid, informative, and entertaining writing is designed to entice readers to learn more about said product or service. A link is usually included at the end of the article. Those whose curiosity was piqued by the article will follow the link to the product/service's main website.

In a similar vein, promotional blogging has been known to deliver solid results. The way this method works is fairly simple and extremely effective. How does it work? A common example would be a website that sells sports related merchandise would publish a blog (or series of blogs) that revolve around sports. The goal of these blogs is not only to provide entertaining reading to those stumbling upon it, but also to drive traffic to the main website selling the merchandise. To make promotional blogging successful, it needs to be done consistently. Thankfully, blogging is a lot of fun. Once you get the hang of it and receive accolades from your readers, you will find yourself updating you blog several times a week. Really, who doesn't enjoy the role of a muse? And what better way to muse than to muse your business' profits through the roof?

Those that prefer audio-visual mediums as opposed to the written word will greatly enjoy the opportunities available with audio podcasting or video marketing. Thanks to the development of digital video and its accompanying editing software, the ability to promote a video featuring your product or service is easier than ever before. Those that may find video production a little complicated or involved could always release an audio only promotional recording. The venues for such promotional materials are vast as they can be placed on file sharing sites, blogs, personal websites, and social networking communities. And, no matter where they are presented, they can draw in large audience which can convert to large volumes of traffic.

Interactive platforms such as social networking sites have great marketing potential as well. The benefit to these platforms is the producer of the product or service can step from behind the wares he/she is promoting and sell himself. Many products are sold because of the charisma and credibility of the person selling it. (Infomercial pitchman Ron Popeil made billions with this strategy) Social networking venues can definitely help you promote yourself as well as your product to great success.

This is only a brief overview of a handful of online marketing methods. Honestly, the world of internet marketing contains limitless potential. Exploring this potential could very well change your life!

Internet Marketing An Effective Model In All Economic Times

What is it about internet marketing that makes it such a bright option in a rather volatile economy? Well, internet marketing is often "free" of the impact of economic trends. Really, it is best to only pay peripheral attention to any ups and downs in the economy. In other words, while it is certainly helpful to look at the current market trends and consumer spending habits, but you should not assume that an online marketing venture will fail based on many economic trends. The reasons to follow this advice are varied and well worth examining.

One main reason why online marketing can succeed in any economy - good or bad - is its scope. The internet is called the World Wide Web for a reason. Any website you are utilizing to promote a product or service can be viewed by from anywhere in the world. This allows you to sell products or services all over the globe. Thanks to the availability on online payment services, it is possible to accept payments in any currency so there is no reason to have concerns over currency conversions. In short, any internet marketing venture can be global in nature. This increases the potential for internet advertising ventures lucrative to become lucrative in any economic environment. After all, the world is a huge place and there is someone, somewhere who is a viable customer.

Internet marketing is, essentially, automated 24/7. When you launch a website to promote a product or service, the website can be accessed any time of the day or night all throughout the year. That means your products and services can be purchased around the clock without your personal supervision. This is another factor that greatly contributes to an internet marketing venture's ability to be quite lucrative.

There is also enormous convenience associated with internet marketing. It is not very difficult to make a purchase online. You need not leave your house and you are not restricted to any specific times of the day. Additionally, thanks to the development and integration of shopping cart software into websites, physically making a purchase is made easy as well. Such convenience also contributes to sustained success regardless of economic factors.

When the economy is poor, discounts and deals become attractive. For people looking for a deal, the internet is usually the best place for them to look for deals. The overhead of running an online business is very low. This has a definite effect on price and allows an internet marketer to offer deals that might not be available in retail stores. This further makes purchasing online attractive to buyers in a weak economy.

Speaking of low overhead, online marketing ventures can be promoted quite easily and without investing a great deal of money. Traditional methods of search engine optimization and email marketing can all yield a great response with limited financial outlay. The new rage of social networking marketing and online video hosting can all promote an internet marketing plan without any cost whatsoever. These all add to the low advertising budgets that make internet marketing potentially lucrative.

Internet marketing is a perennially viable business model. Yes, the ups and downs of the economy can have a somewhat negative impact now and then. But, overall, internet marketing is a relatively safe venture that can turn profits quite effectively regardless of market ups and downs.

The Internet has become a lifeline for businesses to thrive successfully in these times. Gone are the days when distance use to be a barrier for businesses to flourish. Internet and technology have made the world your next door neighbour.

The most evident and explicit trends that have become the buzzword for companies are e-marketing, web marketing, web banners, online advertising and the likes. The field of business that has benefited the most out of advancements in internet technology is Business Marketing. Marketing is most efficiently done online as the reach of internet is massive. So when the cost of online media is divided by the number of people that it reaches, the net marketing cost per individual becomes very less.

Apart from reach and distribution cost, even the interactive nature of online media makes it very popular. Promotions and advertising can all be done in real time and in a much more attractive manner. The companies base their marketing on pay per click strategy under online media. To benefit from this they usually go in for banner ads on the web sites and when people click on the web banners, this generates revenues. Although it might be very small per click but the cumulative amount becomes a big figure.

Such trends in marketing and advertising are slowly developing from the nascent stage to the maturity stage.
Most of the companies see internet as an important medium and channel for promotion and communication. It is inevitable for them to maintain online presence for their products and services because otherwise they will simply get swept over by their competitors who have strong online presence. This is because consumers have a high brand recall for products that are advertised and promoted online. The time that individuals seek in surfing the internet has grown randomly over the years. In this situation it is ideal for companies to take advantage of growing opportunity and expand their businesses through online presence world over. Many companies have come to realize this and have even formed independent departments for handling online Marketing and branding.

Online brand protection is very important for companies. Companies that use it have better protection for their online services then do companies that do not use online brand protection. As we continue down this period of slow overall global economic growth, there is more incentive then ever for companies to make sure that they are protected online. What exactly is the future of online brand protection? Well it is impossible to know for sure, there are some clear signs and trends which likely to be able at least partially answer this question.

Cyber threats pose a threat to nearly everyone that gets online very day. From the large company that does business online to the average consumer that uses the internet to look for information or buy a product, cyber threats can be a major problem. One of the main reasons why there are so many cyber threats out there is because of the fact that there is a compelling reason for some people to do it. What kind of reasons are those exactly? One of those reasons is to cause damage to a competitor. Another reason why there are so many cyber threats is because there is so much money to be made in it. In addition, there is so much valuable information that can be gotten. That information can be used to get new credit cards, and cause other problems. So with all these threats and problems out there, what is the future of online brand protection?

Online brand protection has an important role to play in the future. This is because of a number of factors. One of the main reasons is that businesses have more competition online and need to maximize their profits and capabilities and by having online brand protection in place. In addition, companies want to be able to protect themselves and reduce their liabilities. Sometimes to a company it is just as important to be able to save the money and not have to spend it as it is to make the money in the first place. Some companies have been really hurt by not having online brand protection, and have paid a price for it.

Increasing The Frequency Of Penetration Testing Makes Sense

Conducting a penetration test is one of the widely accepted best methods for identifying and managing the risks associated with technology security concerns. In penetration testing, a security tester will try to think along the lines of what a hacker might do during an attack. The tester will therefore implement the same methods and employ a similar set of tools that a hacker will use. A key difference between the pen tester and hacker is that the tester will note the deficiencies and provide a step by step plan of the most appropriate corrective measures that should be implemented, something which a hacker is unlikely to do. It is through this method that a company will be able to strengthen its security measures in order to offer greater protection.

There are accepted standards and directives for using penetration testing. Requirement 11.3 of the PCI DSS calls for annual internal and external penetration testing within organizations. These exercises should include network and application layer penetration testing. Section 15.2.2 of ISO 27001, mentions the use of routine penetration tests in checking for technical compliance.

So at what frequency should a penetration test be conducted? Lets paint a picture of the current threat landscape. According to IBMs X-force 2008 Trend & Risk Report, over 7,000 new vulnerabilities were identified in 2008. There was also a marked increase in the severity of vulnerabilities and the sophistication of attacks over previous years, with most of the vulnerabilities now exploitable remotely. Web application vulnerabilities now account for over 50% of the total identified vulnerabilities.

Generally, security companies will allocate a fixed time period and budget to carry out the yearly security assessment. A fortnight is a common duration. Unfortunately, this means that security will be enhanced for just the two weeks of testing, leaving an organization potentially exposed for the remaining fifty weeks! This is why it is not safe any more to rely solely on the yearly penetration test.

It is for this reason that newer standards, such as PCI DSS, require the conducting of other tests in addition to the yearly penetration testing. One example is carrying out of quarterly vulnerability scans.

The best practice approach is to conduct ongoing vulnerability management - as identifying and remediating vulnerabilities is a continuous process. Such an initiative should address discovery, asset prioritisation, assessment and analysis, remediation and verification. The ongoing vulnerability testing process should be automated, repeatable and consistent, and can be used to validate other enterprise security practices in place such as patch management and configuration management. Of course this process should still be complemented with regular (at least annual) penetration testing which is by nature more manual, intense and focused.

Ultimately the frequency at which you conduct vulnerability scans against your systems will depend on a number of factors. Some of the key points are the scale of your environment, your appetite for risk, the industry within which you operate, the size of your team, and how quickly you can fix identified problems. The important thing is that you need to conduct these exercises regularly and repeatedly to improve your security profile. If there is a vulnerability in your network, wouldnt you prefer to find it before someone else does?
